Sarah Fitzgerald is an Anglo-Indian actor, maker and activist from Naarm (Melbourne). They graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts with a Bachelor in Fine Arts (Acting) in 2018 and have since worked across theatre and screen and in collaboration with young folks. Most recently, they have worked on screen in Ice Road 2: Return to the Sky (dir. Jonathan Hensleigh); House of Whoreship (dir. Holly Bates) and on stage in SLAP. BANG. KISS. (Melbourne Theatre Company); Oh No! Satan Stole My Pineal Gland! (Melbourne Fringe) and Emilia (Arts Centre Melbourne). They started working with young people in 2022 at the Melbourne Theatre Company and continue to do so at St Martins Youth Arts Centre.
Their practice prioritises truth-telling, curiosity, safety and feeling simply that we are all enough. This usually involves stripping work back to its bare bones, to see how little we need to do to tell a story. Sarah adores ensemble work and things that challenge, disrupt and tickle us.
