St Martins staff and board will vote Yes in the Voice Referendum because we believe it is time that the Australian constitution legally recognises First Nations people, and this is an extraordinary opportunity for their contributions to be heard by the Government. We recognise that the majority of First Nations people support the Voice and respect that there are still ongoing debates among some individuals, communities and organisations about processes and priorities. We also acknowledge the trauma and pain that the referendum process may inflict on First Nations people, especially if they are also young or vulnerable. We look toward positive changes for First Nations people across Australia.
The safety and well-being of our community at St Martins Youth Arts Centre is our top priority. We are dedicated to fostering an environment where children, young adults, vulnerable people, and those at risk feel protected and supported.
Everyone working at St Martins shares this responsibility – to look out for the safety of others, to listen to their voices and to speak up when something isn’t right.
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of abuse. To find out more about our commitment to safeguarding, you can read our policy here.
