St Martins Goes Digital – Workshops: Term 2 Update

We want to start by wishing all of the St Martins community (and beyond) well during this new and unprecedented time. As we know you all are, we’re looking for ways to push through and continue to deliver high-quality workshops and outcomes that our artists and young people have always created, and we know that the incredible, resilient young people that make-up our workshops are more than capable of embracing change and creating something magnificent.

Due to the COVID-19 situation that we’re all facing, St Martins will not be going ahead with Term 2 onsite workshops. This is a decision that we did not come to lightly. This is to protect the safety of our young people, our artists, staff, and everyone in all of our extended communities.

St Martins is testing and brainstorming the viability of presenting online workshops for our young people. We are eager to take this approach as we are keen on keeping our community of young people engaged creatively, and our artists supported and employed during this difficult time in the arts.

Going digital with our team of Teaching Artists!

These weekly workshops would run across a ten-week term for approximately an hour each week and be accessible via the internet with a computer, or phone that has a camera and microphone. They will be offered at a reduced rate.

If you’re interested and would like to enrol in these workshops, please contact Alex with your young person’s name and what class they are in/their age, so we can get a better picture of engaging you and our artists into our brand new St Martins Digital Workshops

If you are not interested in digital and still would like to help our artists during this time, you can donate to our account with “artist” and we will share all the donations between the teaching artist team.

Like many in the industry, our artists are heavily impacted by the current state of affairs. St Martins is committed to doing everything we can to support our artists through this time. If you have any work that you think our excellent crew of artists would be up for (photography, social media management, administration, labour, etc.) – please send them our way (alexm@stmartinsyouth.com.au) and we’ll pass them along. Thank you for those who have done that already, the whole team is very grateful – this community care is what we all need right now!

With love and well-wishes to all.
Stay strong,
The Team @ St Martins.
