Maeve is a theatre maker working across directing, writing, performance and puppetry. She has a rich history in circus, completed an apprenticeship with the QLD Shakespeare Ensemble, and is a BFA Acting graduate from QUT. She has been studying puppetry with Lemony S Puppet Theatre’s Puppet Lab (2024-25).
Maeve recently designed, fabricated and puppeteered “The Tale of the Fire Phoenix”, a shadow puppet work for children with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. She has a varied body of work as an actor, with some highlights including Starweaver (Madness of Two/State Theatre Company South Australia); starring in and puppetry directing the Australian premiere of Crocodile Fever (TART Theatre Collective); and award winning short film ‘Ballad’ (Dir. Roe Bonnici). She has also worked with Mind Blank in schools, using forum theatre as a tool for education.
Maeve’s directing work has been seen nationally and internationally with new work POLES: The Science of Magnetic Attraction (Premiere, Australian Fringes tour and award-nominated Edinburgh Fringe season); ‘Ladies Write Letters of Lemony Love’; and Back Pocket’ (TART). As a playwright, she was selected for ATYP’s National Studio (2021) and Theatre Works’ “She Writes” program (2022-23). Her play “Simple” was one of four finalists for The Cooper Prize (16th St) 2024.
