Hello families, friends & carers,
I understand that these are uncertain times, and I want to thank you all for being so proactive with your young people’s health, notifying me when they’re sick and keeping them away from workshops. This message outlines St Martins’ position in relation to the COVID-19 virus.
We are currently keeping updated with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Australian Government of Department of Health and following the protocols required as an organisation at this stage. Symptoms of the virus include fever, cough, sore throat, fatigue and shortness of breath and other signs of a chest infection. We are advising all St Martins staff, contractors and workshop participants who have travelled to Countries of Concern (click here), or whose family/close contacts have travelled to these areas, in the past 14 days and who are feeling unwell, to seek medical attention urgently and self-isolate if necessary.
The Department of Health has advised that students, staff or community members feeling unwell should contact their general practitioner by phone or call the health direct helpline on 1800 022 222. Remember, it is important to phone ahead and advise the doctor about your symptoms and travel history and to receive instructions prior to visiting your GP.
Please note: if you have travelled to Countries of Concern, or have had contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19, you should follow the advice of the Department of Health. You should not attend St Martins if self-isolation is required, or if you are presenting with the symptoms described above.
Good practice of hygiene and health is encouraged for individuals and the company at all times. We have hand sanitiser located throughout our venues, and workshop artists encourage our young people to sanitise or wash their hands before workshops, after the break, and after coughing/sneezing.
If you are feeling unwell, or affected by COVID-19 in any way we encourage you to self-isolate. Please let us know if you or your child has tested positive for COVID-19 so that we can shut down the workshop, contact parents and isolate our artists if they have come into contact.
We will keep you updated if the situation changes, but for now, continue to look after yourselves and enjoy the workshops.
Kind Regards,
Alex Matsoukas
Workshop and Office Coordinator
