Please note that Digital Workshops will be starting a week later - the week of the 20th July - in-line with the Victorian Government extending school holidays.
The 90-minute workshops for 13- 17s will be a weekly gathering point for young people to connect, create, play and express. Workshops for this age group focus on building craft as a performer and devisor who has a unique point of view. Guided by professional artists, young people are asked to work in groups and individually to create original material for performance.
During the classes we will focus on:
- Actors warm-up that includes voice and movement
- Ensemble games for the digital space
- Devising specifically for an online performance
- Using the house and the camera to explore creative provocations
- Solo work that together builds a group performance
The activities will creatively build week by week, moving towards a digital showing at the end of Term 2. Students may be asked to do tasks in between workshops, such as take a photo, put together a costume or film something on a phone to share at the next workshop.
We ask that parents provide supervision as appropriate from discussion with your young person.
Please be aware that our Digital Workshops will adhere to strict minimum class sizes. If a class has low enrolments, St Martins will look at combining classes where possible, or cancelling the class when there are no other options.
If you’d like your child to participate in a workshop at St Martins, but feel they can’t due to disability, cultural background, financial challenges or other barriers, you can apply for an inclusion scholarship or engage in one of our outreach programs.
