This one time at St Martins...
I had the moment that committed me to theatre as a career for life.

A story about a moment, big or small
I've never actually been a student at St Martins (I've been a teacher and a writer for them) but when I was sixteen, during the National Shakespeare Finals, when my schools group was performing in the grand final finale (I think we might have been last on the bill) I stood on stage in front of a completely packed audience in the Randall theatre and before I'd even said a word the wave of cheering, applause and laughter was so loud and strong that I knew in that instant it would be what I did with the rest of my life.
And, so far, I have.
Robert is a playwright, theatre critic, and theatre historian.
